Why I’m Building a Mentoring Platform
Hey all. If you don’t know me, my name is Chris. I am a self-taught developer and I’ve been a professional engineer for close to 5 years.
As I look back to my years as a junior developer. If there was one thing that would help FastTrack my career in the tech industry, it would be a mentor.
Obviously as a junior developer I had no idea on where I can even find a mentor in the first place.
So as what everyone else would do, I went to google. I searched all over the web on how and where to find someone that can help guide me in reaching my dream job.
There were two things that I faced that just seemed to make finding a mentor feel impossible.
#1. I was too embarrassed to ask an experienced engineer to mentor me.
#2. All of the online mentoring websites were way too out of my budget.
Some people were charging from $75-$120/hr. I was looking for a mentor because I didn't make enough to make a living in the first place.
So here I am. I have no backend development experience whatsoever. I have never built a CRM or anything like this. But one thing I do have is a passion in helping aspiring developers around the world reach their dreams in the tech industry.
My goal is to make it affordable. Cheaper than all of the mentoring websites out there. If not, if possible even make it free.
